People consult a
psychoanalyst, psychotherapist, or counsellor for many different
reasons. Often it is anxiety that finally persuades someone to take
the step to find out what is causing them so much trouble. Panic
attacks, phobias, inhibitions, obsessions, fear, anger,
jealousy - it can come in many different disguises - depression,
sleeplessness, inertia, eating disorders, sexual difficulties, even
aches and pains and problems with parts of the body. Whatever
form it takes it takes up a lot of time and energy and your work,
your family, your love relations all end up suffering the
consequence.
My orientation is
psychoanalytic, but not the classical five day a week
psychoanalysis. The sessions I offer are analytically inspired,
sensitive to the particularities of each different person, and are
aimed at giving you a chance to speak in depth about the things that
are important to you.
Through speaking, you
will be able to explore the nature of your difficulties and gain
some clarity about how you came to find yourself in your current
situation. You will also be able to explore memories, emotional
states, dreams, as well as your future hopes and aspirations.
The work is
confidential.
When you consult an
analyst you can expect to gain insight into your life through a
gradual unfolding of your own particular story. You will have the
chance to analyse the significant relations and moments of your life
and understand how these have left their mark on you. You can expect
therapeutic side-effects as the work progresses, this often begins
in the very first meeting. You may also find good counsel in the
sessions as your difficulties and options become clearer and better
defined.
